SONORITĀTE-. (2026)
Sonoritāte-., sonority in latin, is the quality or property of what is sonorous, it is melody, it is a harmonious sound effect, it is musicality.
Sonoritāte-. brings together a set of photographs, interpretations of musical objects, as if it were a mirror, a representation of something that holds us in a certain space and time – a new configuration of a musical universe. A look that seeks a new aesthetic appreciation of a constant visual practice that often refers to the search for connections with the universe of music, and in this case, with a visual sound.
Through the annotation of moments and objects, often linked to the musical universe, the artist's work is also distinguished by a persistent idea about the creative and musical potential of a photographic image.
Her current work deepens into how several details present in the images, such as traces that resemble notes on a musical scale or lines that refer to the idea of continuity or sound, can be represented in the image, rethought in order to build new visual and photographic combinations. The works reveal a constant dialogue between form, space and extension in time.
Looking at the images, we are led to a sequence of moments that articulate gestures, tempos, movement with the “drawing” of the image.
The artist seeks in her practice ways of observing the image from a different perspective and subjectivity, in which mere everyday musical objects, such as plectrums or reeds, keys, springs, strings, musical sheets acquire greater relevance, aesthetic and symbolic value.
